It was missing one head and one rim when I got it. I was able to find a 20" tom rim to go with the drum but I realized quickly that options for 20" tom heads are extremely limited. (Bass drum heads have a thicker counterhoop that will not fit under traditional tom rims.) So I decided to try something different. I replaced half of the lugs with Arch2 (Drum Foundry) bass drum lugs - the hole spacing was the same as the original lugs so I didn't have to drill any additional holes. I also ordered a bass drum hoop, which I finished in a simple black satin, and claws. Now the drum will take any bass drum batter head and works well as a small bass drum for multi set ups and can be set up as a kick drum.
But I'm torn. Am I done with this project? The drum is fully functional. Would it be better if I made the resonant side compatible with bass drum heads as well? Should I removed the gun metal gray wrap and refinish it (in some form of black of course!)? Or should I just leave well enough alone?
